For The Good of Our Community

Our Community Investment

As Nova Scotians, we are known for our resilience, resourcefulness, and way of coming together to celebrate all of life’s moments, big and small. These moments of care and connection are critical to fostering a sense of belonging and overall well-being. The NSLC supports organizations and initiatives that work to build healthy and sustainable communities in our province. Our goal is to help everyone find moments of positive care and connection to help create a stronger Nova Scotia.

Our Focus Areas

community

Community Well-being

Investing in food security, affordable housing, and health supports helps reduce the likelihood of mental and physical health challenges, increasing overall community wellbeing and moments of care and connection.

Our Environment

Reducing our environmental footprint and stewarding the preservation of our natural resources contributes to the health and sustainability of our communities and enhances physical spaces.

Responsibility Stewardship

As a responsible steward of beverage alcohol and cannabis sales in our province, we partner with organizations that share our commitment, driving awareness and education of responsible consumption.

How We Invest

Our community partnerships demonstrate a shared purpose to come together for the good of Nova Scotia, working to improve the quality of life and well-being for those within the communities in which we live and work. Our investment decisions are guided by our shared values and commitment to our community. They are grounded in our service standards of strengthening relationships with our community members, partners, and other stakeholders.

  1. Regional Giving

The NSLC’s Regional Giving program supports local initiatives that address a community need, have relevance for our team, and/or align with one of our focus areas. Through the program, registered charities or non-profit organizations that support communities in Nova Scotia could be eligible for support of up to $1,000 per fiscal year (April 1 – March 31).

  2. Event Sponsorships and Safe Rides

The NSLC is proud to sponsor community and industry events that directly support or are aligned to any of our community investment focus areas. Depending on the size, nature, and relevancy of the event, the NSLC may consider several options for sponsorship. Support could be provided through a financial contribution, volunteerism, or our Safe Rides program.

The NSLC's Safe Rides program helps ensure Nova Scotians get home safely from events and celebrations across Nova Scotia through offering taxi coupons, shuttle services or free transit rides.

The level and type of sponsorship is determined by our Corporate Social Responsibility team based on the application submitted.

    Community Events
Events such as festivals, sports tournaments, and parades would be considered community events. Alcohol may be served at these events but should not be the focus.

Community event applications must be sent at least three months in advance.
