Halifax, March 17, 2020 – The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) is adjusting the hours of its stores as we work together to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Effective tomorrow all stores will be open to all customers from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Stores will be open an hour earlier, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., for seniors and customers who are at higher risk of contracting the virus. Our stores will be closed Sundays. Agency stores will follow the same hours.
“We made this decision in the best interest of our employees and our customers,” said Greg Hughes, NSLC President and CEO. “We are making every effort to stay open as we work to balance protecting our employees and the public with providing service to our customers.”
These shorter business hours will allow time for employees to thoroughly clean our stores and to re-stock product on stores shelves. The NSLC has sufficient inventory, so there is no need to buy extra product. We would like to remind customers that they can purchase cannabis and a limited selection of beverage alcohol online if they wish. While Canada Post normally provides home delivery of cannabis purchases, it currently requires customers to pick it up at their post office. Any online beverage alcohol purchases will have to be picked up in an NSLC store.
We ask any customers who have symptoms to not shop in our stores, just as we require any employees with symptoms to stay home. We will also be limiting the number of customers in our stores to no more than 50 at any given time.
“It’s important that we look out for one another and do what we can to help prevent the spread of this virus. We appreciate your understanding and hope that everyone takes the appropriate precautions to protect themselves, their families and their neighbours,” Hughes said.
