The Government of Canada has introduced and passed legislation providing a GST/HST reduction on a number of products from December 14, 2024, to February 15, 2025. This includes many products sold by the NSLC.

What's included in the HST reduction?
Removal of HST applies to the following products:
- All wine
- All beer
- All cider
- Pre-mixed beverages that are 7% ABV or less
Spirits (including liqueurs) and cannabis products are not included in the HST reduction.
Where will you see the price change?
Prices and promotions in NSLC stores and on myNSLC.com include taxes and container deposit. However, shoppers will not be charged HST on qualifying products. You will see the savings at the register and on your receipt for in-store purchases.

You will see your savings at the cash register and on your receipts.
Online purchases
For online purchases, the pricing on the website and in your order confirmation email will include HST. The total price included in your shipping confirmation email will reflect the correct HST reduced price on qualified products and will be the amount charged to your credit card.
For products that are included in the HST Reduction, the price you pay will be less than the price you see on the shelf/on the website.
The promotion says "$3 Off," but the math doesn't make sense. Shouldn't I get $3 off?
All prices and promotions at the NSLC - both in-store and online - include tax and container deposit. This means that the discounted amount for the product is the same as it was without the HST Reduction. The price you pay at check-out will be less than the listed price at the shelf/online.
How do I know the products I purchased were tax-free?
If you look at your receipt, all items qualifying for the HST Reduction will be marked with an "A" next to them. Taxable products, such as spirits and cannabis, will have an "H" next to them on the receipt.
How will returns work during the HST reduction?
The regular return policy for the NSLC remains. If you have your receipt and the product is unopened and in good condition, we are happy to provide a full refund.
We will not refund the HST amount on products purchased before December 14. That means you cannot make a purchase and be refunded the HST amount for anything bought before the HST Reduction begins.
