Do you know what’s in your cannabis? We know what’s in ours. When you purchase cannabis from the NSLC, you always know what you’re going to get. It’s a black and white choice, with no room for grey.
As the authorized retailer of recreational cannabis in Nova Scotia, you’re making the safe and legal choice when you shop with us. We take our responsibility to give you access to products that are regulated, tested, and safe as seriously as you take your munchies menu.
We have high standards, and you should, too.
Why You Should Only Buy Cannabis from the NSLC
Since cannabis was legalized in 2018, the NSLC has proudly offered Nova Scotians access to an exciting selection of products from some of the best licensed producers around North America, including right here at home.
Every product we bring into our stores passes through a rigorous testing and regulation process to ensure it meets important health, safety, and quality standards.
Cannabis products sold by anyone else in Nova Scotia are unregulated, unsafe, and uncool.
There are plenty of good reasons only to buy safe and legal cannabis from the NSLC, but here are just a few.
Know What You’re Getting, Every Single Time
Regulated cannabis products contain exactly what they say they do. Every product we sell has standardized cannabis packaging that contains a detailed ingredient list, nutrition information, and the amount of THC and CBD per unit.
Not only do unregulated products not disclose their ingredients, but they often claim to have vastly more or less THC than they do, which can be far over the safe and legal limits.
By buying from the NSLC, you know what you're getting with regulated, tested, and legal cannabis products. We're setting higher standards.
Avoid the Risks of Undisclosed Ingredients
For a cannabis product to be legally sold in Nova Scotia and across Canada, it must pass through a rigorous testing process to ensure it meets health and safety standards. For example, this testing ensures that your cannabis is free from:
- Heavy Metals
- Pesticides
- Bacteria
- Mould
Amongst other harmful agents that could be found in cannabis products.
There are no hidden additives or unlisted ingredients in the cannabis products at the NSLC. Remember, tested is trusted.

How to Make Sure Your Cannabis is Safe and Legal
Check the package
The packaging for legal cannabis is standardized, informative, and easy to spot. All legal cannabis products will come in a sealed, child-resistant package, and display important information you need to know as a consumer, such as:
- Standardized cannabis symbol.
- Yellow box with a health warning message in both English and French.
- Excise stamp that indicates which province the product is authorized to be sold in.
- Labels showing the amount of THC and CBD per purchased product and the amount to use as intended.
- Ingredients and nutrition information.
- Contact information for the licensed producer.
Learn to Identify Illegal Cannabis
Unauthorized retailers sell unregulated products from unlicensed producers that do not meet the safety or quality standards for the legal market or to be sold in our stores. You deserve to know where your cannabis comes from, what’s in it, and what you can expect.
Illegal products usually:
- Bright, multi-coloured packaging.
- Packaging that looks like or mimics popular candy or snack food brands.
- Packaging with flashy promotions, such as celebrity endorsements.
- Claims to contain more than 10mg of THC per package (edibles only).
