With a life-long passion for the pleasures of the table and having built a boutique grocery empire (Pete’s Frootique), opening a winery was a natural next step for Pete Luckett. And with the energy he brings to everything he does, it’s unsurprising that no details were left to chance in creating the vineyard, winemaking facility, onsite restaurant, retail boutique and, indeed, choosing the stunning site itself. From the often-photographed British phone box to the unparalleled views of the Gaspereau Valley and Blomidon, the winery is a feast for all the senses.
With experience in Nova Scotia and the Niagara regions, resident winemaker Mike Mainguy has been with the winery since its opening in 2011. Between Mike and vineyard manager, Marcel Kolb, a winemaking philosophy has coalesced that makes the most of the vineyard’s rocky, clay-rich soil and tidal-airflow tempered growing season. In a relatively short period of time in terms of the wine world, this talented team has produced a raft of wines that are winning devoted fans and starting to show well at awards shows both regionally and nationally.
Luckett Vineyard offers a range of reds, whites, a rosé and a variety of non-grape wines made with fruit sourced from local orchards and fields.
