BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger

Prepare to be overcome by patriotic pride when you taste the flavours in these bold Nova Scotian wines, paired with this classic Canadian burger.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or lean ground beef

4-8 slices of bacon, cooked

1 egg, beaten

1/2 small onion, grated

1 tsp hot sauce

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 clove garlic, minced

4 slices of cheddar

Pinch salt & pepper

Directions

Place ground beef in a large bowl. Add egg, onion, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly. Shape into four 3/4-inch thick patties. Refrigerate until ready to use. Remove from fridge 20-30 minutes before grilling. Set burgers on lightly greased grill over high heat for 2 minutes per side. Reduce heat to medium-high and continue grilling approximately 8 more minutes. Check for doneness using a meat thermometer (160 °F) or pierce burgers with a skewer to check middle of the burger. Top with bacon and cheddar.
