Make cleanup easier—and better
Yes, there is a “right” way to load a dishwasher. A way that ensures all the dishes get clean—saving you time and effort, not to mention a rewash.
Here’s the proper way to load your dishwasher, according to a major dishwasher manufacturer.
1) Insert plates into the slots in the bottom section of the dishwasher, facing toward the centre and leaning downwards (if they lean at all).
2) Place the cups, glasses and bowls at an angle so that they get water from below but don't take up too much room.
3) To make sure they don’t melt or warp, put all plastic items on the top shelf, where it’s not as hot.
4) Pots and pans should be open-side down (toward the spray), in the bottom.
5) Load cutlery with the handle DOWN, so the dirty business ends are up where they’ll be better cleaned.
6) Prolong the life of your wine glasses—either wash them by hand or use the plastic tilt-down safety rack on the top shelf to support them in the dishwasher.
7) Before firing up your dishwasher, turn the spinning arms by hand to make sure there’s nothing obstructing them.
8) Enjoy dishes that get cleaner, faster!
