If you’ve been to a shower or two (or more) before, you’re probably familiar with the shower activities that have become the traditional “go-to” games. Classic fun, sure, but If you’re looking to throw a shower that’s a little more unique, but still fun and interactive, head to school – bartending school.
A bartending school lends itself best to a later afternoon or early-evening shower, rather than a traditional mid-day affair. Think of the classic “cocktail hour” get-togethers in those old movies. Bring it back and get your guests learning some skills along the way. It’s also a great ice-breaker for guests who may not know each other.
Where can you find a bartender? You have a few options. Just drop into your favourite bar or pub and ask the bartenders if they’d be up for the fun and offer to pay them for their help too. Once you have found your bartender, ask them to teach and demonstrate some mixology basics and tips, explain the proper ratio of alcohol to mix in a cocktail and get everyone involved in making a signature cocktail or two. Make sure you ask him or her to have a non-alcoholic version on hand too. Don’t forget to have enough barware for everyone to participate and ask the bartender to help out in this regard, if they can.

Remember, it’s important to be a responsible host. Have cab numbers on hand, or even plan for a designated “chauffeur” in a van to get your guests home safely, should they need it. Have fun!
